Mia went to school and received her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from University of Victoria. She started practicing medicine as an RN in 1987 in British Columbia, Canada and is board certified in both Canada and the United States. She decided to become a Nurse Practitioner because she had always been intrigued by the art of medicine and nursing and started her career as an NP in 2007 in British Columbia. Mia is passionate about supporting people in their health care journey and chose to focus on cardiology since graduation, specializing in operating room procedures, intensive care, and open heart surgery. Mia loves learning new standards that improve care and feels the best part of her job is working as a team with her patients to support them in their healthcare experience. She served a four year term on the CRNBC (College of Registered Nurses of British Columbia) as Chair for the Nurse Practitioner Standards Committee. She is an operating room post graduate as well as a critical care post graduate. Mia calls herself a fitness enthusiast and enjoys running, biking, and travel.
